Význam a vliv mědi na rostliny
The importance and effects of copper on plants

Copper is an essential microelement with many physiological roles. It a part of a wide ranges of enzymes, in particular from the group of oxidases, but also of protective enzymes such as superoxide dismutase. Moreover, it occurs in the enzyme catalyzing the transfer of electrons in the process of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. High concentrations of copper lead to symptoms of toxicity, which are species-specific. This circumstance is given by different susceptibility of plants to copper ions. In this review the general mechanisms of uptake of copper, its importance for plants, deficiency symptoms and its phytotoxicity are discussed.

Key words: copper, phytotoxicity, copper deficiency, copper uptake.
