Studium obsahu fytochelatinů v rostlinách lnu setého (Linum usitatissimum L.) Detection of phytochelatins in flax (Linum usitatissimum L.)
In this study, we employed our optimized method of high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection
(HPLC-ED) to study the content of thiols. These are glutathions (reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) glutathione), which ratio
is used as a marker of oxidative stress, and phytochelatins PC2, PC3, PC4 and PC5, which are very important for the protection
of plant cells against adverse effects of heavy metals. Thiols content was studied in flax plants treated with various concentrations
of cadmium(II) ions. Using our method, we were able to identify and quantify the levels of thiols, which varied depending
on the applied dose of cadmium.
Key words: flax, phytochelatins, high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED).
